Fertility Treatment
I was trained over 10 years ago in the fertile body method and have had many successes using their hypnotherapy and holistic approaches to fertility treatment. Often there is also some fear involved in the inability to conceive and EMDR gives the most powerful of tools to understand and overcome this.
The Fertile Body Method is a mind body approach to fertility which acknowledges the importance of working with fertility problems in a holistic way.
Hypnosis is potentially a very powerful and effective therapeutic tool and is used in many of the techniques and approaches suggested in the Fertile Body Method.
Hypnosis is a trance state induced through focusing attention on any current internal or external sensory experience; hypnotherapy is the art of utilising this state of absorption to facilitate inner change, which can positively impact on physical wellbeing and fertility.
Birthing
I was originally trained in Birth Hypnosis by the HypnoBirthing® institute originally established in the United States by Marie Mongan. I have practiced the Mongan Method for over 10 years and have had many successes using it.
As I work with more and more parents, I realise that everyone is an individual with their individual hopes and fears. I have now chosen to offer what I feel is a more personalized programme and one that is more suited to the UK market. I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach. Unlike in the US where all care is paid for here in the UK women get far more input from key people during pregnancy, particularly their own midwife and also other antenatal programmes. Consequently, in a UK based birthing program it is possible to leave out the basics and focus more on what women don’t get elsewhere.
The course I provide is of three sessions, spaced apart to give time for practice. I teach Hypnosis and visualizations, as well as breathing techniques and other valuable tools for birth. This work is usually done privately rather than in groups.
Because I am a specialist in trauma work, I can work individually with clients who may have experienced a less than perfect birth before, or with clients who have very specific fears to enable them to process their memories or fears and move on to a beautiful birth. As a therapist I am not simply delivering a set programme, I am tailoring the course to your specific needs. Feedback I get speaks for itself about the effectiveness of my approach.
”I just wanted to tell you I had a beautiful birth at home. I never made it to the Hospital. The contractions were never closer than 10 minutes. I walked, I napped, I sang! Eventually after an hour nap with no contractions my waters broke and half an hour later my boy was born into my hands, with the help of paramedics. I only had some pain in the last 15 minutes from a few powerful contractions. The passage of my son was pure elation!”

- Discover that severe pain does not have to be an accompaniment of labour
- Let go of the fears and anxieties you may currently have around giving birth
- Feel the joy and magic of birth
- Put yourself back in control- learn how to relax
- Experience birth in an atmosphere of calm relaxation, free of fear and tension that can lead to pain and complications
Using Birth Hypnosis doesn’t mean you’ll be in a trance or a sleep. Rather, you’ll be able to chat, and be and in good spirits – totally relaxed, but fully in control. You’ll always be aware of what is happening to you, and around you.
We went into hospital to be induced and not much was happening by the evening, so the DR and Midwife came in to say that they would have to start the syntocin drip! This did not appeal, nor the prospect of continual monitoring. The midwife popped back in a minute later and told us to ignore the Dr and go for a long walk. So off we trundled and low and behold Lucy turned up in the early hours. I went from 2cm to fully dilated in just over an hour. It was an amazing experience and throughout it the foundations of hypno-birthing helped keep me calm and focused. Phillip and I are both really glad we attended the sessions.”
